East Istria

Labin's hilltop old town — a former mining centre turned artists' quarter — looks down over its own seaside extension, Rabac. Neighbouring Raša, Istria's youngest town, was purpose-built in the 1930s around its own coal mine and still has a distinct planned-town layout.
